Property of A Lady

It is election time in the Philippines, and in what best way to describe it as a circus. And like most circus it has also a star the nation’s top post the presidential post, is the highlight of every election. But only once every 6 years, Filipinos, able to read and write, guns for this top post at all cost. Some come from a different political spectrum represented by parties and others normal citizen practicing their right to run for office. Yet one thing is common and that is a dream of better Philippines for another 6 years. We always view election as job application with you as the HR and with each presidential hopeful submitting their curriculum vitae for you to examine and then deciding who will get the job but what does it take really to get the job for more properly who’s property if the job.

We have to take note that the job of the president is very wide in description but the least common the constitution give is to head the state and to head the government as he also d commander-in-chief of the armed forces. He also exercise direct control over executive departments bureaus and offices. He also appoint secretaries directors and its respective counterparts to every departments. He also grant pardon and amnesties. He can also overturn the decision of both houses of congress by means of veto vote on any legislation they pass. Take note that the president can expand is authority by means of any decree you wish for as long as it is backed by the congress and the senate of the Philippines.

With that much power the office really is the battleground for every election whilst everyone want it only few people or sometimes if the circumstances forbids us none can surpass the moral requirements needed for a president. In every election we tend to focus on personality politics. Who’s candidate is more popular than the other? Who’s candidate sells the name frequently? Who’s candidate has the best tagline? Who’s candidate has the secretive and intriguing of backstories it’s always like that. What we need to focus on is the quotient of all impeccable characteristics a competent leader must have and let’s discuss it one by one

What we need in a leader is with strong will. The leader we need in this country must have the political will that is very much assertive because if you look at the landscape we can see that there is no clear ground of ideological discourse which politician stands. They are all free floating just to serve their personal interest. In the post-Martial Law era of politics, we can see that at least six different political parties have entered the Malacañang Palace, But what is important to note is that each and every subsequent elections, none of them survive. After the other, they all die and rot and completely decimated from a political party of at least a hundred thousand local and national politicians after 6 years it will be just down to at least a thousand or if lucky at least tens of thousands. We need the principled politician who stands in belief not believing on something to stand on because it’s a mockery of the Filipino people. Reform the political law of the nation to establish a well-rounded bureaucracy with competent leaders on top and without any anomalies or corruptions.

We need a diplomat, we don’t need the politician. The space in the worldwide arena preoccupied by us is very volatile the Philippines now risen delicate spot as it is sandwiched between Chinese aggression and Western protection so the next leader must know how to properly conduct itself i know what’s the best interest of the nation we have at least 39.6% Debt to GDP ratio the nations credit rating is at ‘BBB’ and 28.38% of our GDP was derived from imports. With this numbers, we can clearly see that the Philippines is a global country, a developing one in the standards of most industrialized nation. But always take note that the global stage is not there to be the standard of the nation the nation must have its own standards to better serve the Filipino people and to feel this changing numbers closer to their stomachs. The next president must craft policies that is beneficial for the country and the world.

The nations next leader must be a public servant. Close to the grassroots and to the fringes of the society. What we need to know is that in every election, each and every candidate would use the word “mahirap” or “para sa mahirap” as their campaign slogan but what we need to see is that some of them doesn’t perform that well. The slogan they have is very much absent in there personalities. They are just using it to propel themselves to the top of the game. None of them have the “mahirap.” They only do it during the election to gather people’s attention and lure them into their spells. We need a true leader that really walks the talk, who is really for the mahirap. Who help the poor, Who came from the poor, Who knows the struggles of the poor. Who understand that the main pressing issues of the nation comes from the very idea of poverty that the existing establishment is very much aware and is condoning at some reasons and never intended to stop the ravages brought by indigenous. And the difference of a public servant to a politician is that he knows what help to give to the poor public servant doesn’t use the word for just to express that the help is being done.

Based on the description of strong sense of character, intellectual diplomacy, patriotic egalitarianism, a great president can be compared to a household. Head the household head must convey the idea of running the house with every member achieving their own sets of goals as he manage them. Sometimes it can be the father who has the upper hand and be a leader or a mother with the care and tender understanding. But to give you the personal thought of this discussion, I do believe that the presidency is a property of a lady. The whole description I gave is for a mother. A mother is strong wielded who yields the household around her caring arms. A mother is a thinking negotiator who deals with everyday problems with ease. And a mother is a good steward has she do all job to keep the family’s wellness.

The job of the president is hard, as the law prescribes it to be, so it requires female with an equivalent hard capacity to hold the job and be her property for another 6 years. She should be accountable for another destiny the country should take and she should be willing to take any risk just for the sake of the Filipino nation. Enough with this nonsense that we need a strong man. No, we don’t! What we need now is a change of politics, change in the style of establishment we have, so what better way to start it than to have a lady in the position of president itself. With the female on the top, it would be nice to see that the yesterday’s circus gone and welcome to a competent and straightforward administration Malacañang pink.
